You'll receive a booster dose of a safe and effective Pfizer or Moderna vaccine approved in the UK.

These updated vaccines target recent COVID-19 variants for better protection.

Experts recommend the specific vaccine used in the program.

Important information:

In very rare cases, serious side effects may occur. Seek immediate medical advice if you experience chest pain, shortness of breath, or rapid heartbeat after vaccination.

If you are unwell on the day of your appointment, wait to get vaccinated until you recover.

The vaccine reduces your risk of severe illness from COVID-19, but it may take a few days for full protection to develop.

If you haven't had all your previous vaccinations, you can get them during this campaign. Most people don't need extra doses to make up for missed vaccinations.

If you have a history of allergies or a previous immediate reaction, inform the vaccinator.

Common side effects are mild and usually go away within a week:

Pain, tenderness, or swelling at the injection site

  • Feeling tired
  • Headache
  • General aches or mild flu-like symptoms

It's not always convenient to get to your GP. Thats why we now offer a range of treatments and services that can allow you access a range of prescription medicines without a visit to the surgery or prior appointment.

Get oral contraceptives from your pharmacist without the need for a prescription or trip to the GP.

  • For new users and those on repeat supplies
  • Walk in, or book ahead online.

We recognize the challenges you might face when it comes to contraception - for routine users this could mean difficulty getting repeat prescriptions before you run out, and for new users, confusion about options, concerns about privacy, and the need for reliable, ongoing support.

What you get from us

  • Support - we're here for you before and after supply.
  • Expertise - Advice and treatment from experienced pharmacists
  • Health Checks - We assess blood pressure and BMI prior to supply for safety.
  • Confidential - Your privacy is assured.
  • FREE - NHS funded so no cost.

No appointment required, simply walk in or book ahead online Get started today!

Blood Pressure - The Silent Killer

High blood pressure can increase your risk of developing serious long-term health conditions, such as coronary heart disease and kidney disease. We are working with the NHS to identify people at risk of hypertension and offering them blood pressure measurement. If we think you require further assessment we will offer a 24 hour at-home monitoring of your blood pressure

Benefits of the service

  • Give a better reflection of blood pressure, as being tested in somewhere like a GP surgery can make patients feel anxious and can affect the result
  • Allow patients to monitor their condition more easily in the long term
  • Reduce the incidence of clinical events such as death, heart attack or stroke, over five years

The blood pressure test results will then be shared with your GP so you receive appropriate attention.

A convenient photo service for passports and more

Urgently need a photo for a driving licence, bus pass or passport?

Worry not, Westbourne pharmacy's ID photo service can provide high quality portrait photos that comply with all the regulations official organisations require of images used in these and other situations.

The process takes just 10 minutes and you'll leave the pharmacy with your images - no waiting around for emails, post etc.

The photos are available in printed or electronic  including the Digital Code for UK Passports. No prior appointment is required, simply pop-in when it suits you - we're available 7 days a week!

Prices start from just £5. Call us for more information.

      Altitude Sickness

You can get altitude sickness if you travel to a high altitude too quickly. Breathing becomes difficult because you're not able to take in as much oxygen.

Altitude sickness, also called acute mountain sickness (AMS), can become a medical emergency if ignored.

Your age, sex or physical fitness do not affect your likelihood of getting altitude sickness.

Also, just because you may not have had it before, this does not mean you will not get it on another trip.

Our pharmacist can provide medication to prevent and treat the condition.

Once symptoms of rabies develop, the infection is fatal. Human cases are usually due to dog bites but many animals can be infected, and a scratch or lick may be sufficient to transmite the disease.

Tetanus is included in the UK as part of the national schedule where 5 doses are given in childhood including a booster dose for teenagers.

Travellers should ensure that they have had a full primary course of vaccine and receive a booster every 10 years if they are travelling to an area where diphtheria, tetanus or polio are considered high risk and where access to post exposure treatment may be difficult.
